At Asuncion Dental Group, we have effectively created our own onsite dental “lab.” Our dentist, Dr. Frederick Asuncion, has invested in advanced CEREC software and equipment. CEREC allows us to provide same-day dental crowns. We are also equipped to make other restorations, such as veneers, in-house. We have eliminated the “middle man” or the outside dental lab. For these and other reasons, many of our patients in and around Frederick, Maryland, feel that CEREC-made crowns are better than traditional crowns. And they may be right for you, too!
What’s in the name?
CEREC is an acronym for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic.” We can break each of these words down to convey the benefits of this approach.
- Chairside refers to our ability to handle every step in the process efficiently and all from under our roof. At other dental offices, it takes at least two visits to complete the process. During the first visit, the tooth is prepared. Information about the tooth is also collected and sent to a lab. The lab then uses this info to fabricate the crown. Once it is ready, the permanent crown is cemented to the tooth during the second appointment. We make crowns in one visit, and while you wait
- Economical refers to how CEREC saves you money as well as time. Partly, we have eliminated the transportation and additional expenses associated with return trips to our office. Since these crowns are so durable and built to last by the team you know and trust, CEREC crowns are also a terrific investment in your smile and health. They hold up very well with good care and routine check-ups
- Restoration refers to both the hassle-free, seamless, and efficient process of making a crown at our office as well as the versatility of this state-of-the-art system. , CEREC software is used to transform digital images into a three-dimensional model of the tooth. Our team then uses this model to design the crown. Lastly, the crown is made with our onsite milling machine. It is crafted from a block of premium dental ceramic. We also use these steps and technologies to craft restorations such as inlays, onlays, and veneers
- Esthetic is a nod to Dr. Asuncion’s commitment to designing tooth structure that looks natural and like the “real thing.” He also uses the finest materials, which replicate the appearance of tooth enamel
