Suresmile Aligners

What to expect at every step in the SureSmile® process of straightening your teeth with clear aligners

Many aspects of the SureSmile® clear aligners process come down to timing. Asuncion Dental Group is sure that you probably have a number of questions about this revolutionary way to straighten teeth and correct bite imbalances without braces. These questions likely include, “How long does it take to get your aligners?” as well as “How long does treatment take?”

Dr. Frederick Asuncion and our team in Frederick, Maryland, are happy to walk you through the process. So, you can understand just how quick and easy it can be to get straighter teeth and a healthier, more attractive smile.

The journey to your best smile

First, you will contact our office to schedule a SureSmile® consultation. If Dr. Asuncion determines these clear aligners are right for you, he will collect information about your mouth. This information is used to make the aligners/aligner trays. This step is painless, comfortable, and super-easy because we use digital or optical scans instead of messy and uncomfortable traditional impressions.

Even better, we can show you how your teeth are straightened and how they will look post-treatment using the proprietary SureSmile™ Simulator and 3-D visualization technology. Our team then works with the SureSmile® team to craft your one-of-a-kind treatment plan. It usually takes around two to four weeks for their digital lab to make your transparent and well-fitting aligner trays precisely. Once the trays are ready, you return to our office. Dr. Asuncion will walk you through your treatment. We’ll also show you how to wear and care for the initial aligners provided to you.

The SureSmile® system is distinctive from other clear aligner therapies because it uses special technologies like the VPro™ High-Frequency Device. This special device may be used from the comfort of home for just five minutes each day. The VPro™ applies gentle vibration to sustain the optimal fit and comfort of the aligners. It also helps to support accelerated treatment.

Simply wear and maintain the aligners as instructed by your dentist. You should only remove the aligners when eating meals, cleaning the tray, and brushing and flossing your teeth. Each aligner tray is a little different. They correspond with unique stages in your treatment plan. So, it is also important to wear them in the correct order, and usually for around two weeks. During periodic “check-ins,” Dr. Asuncion can provide you with more aligner trays as needed and also evaluate how well treatment is progressing.

With proper patient compliance, we can straighten your teeth and otherwise correct misalignment in just six months, or a fraction of the time of traditional braces treatment. Of course, every patient is different, and there are many variables to account for that are specific to your situation and needs when developing a treatment plan.

Call Asuncion Dental Group at (301) 690-8482 (new patients) or (301) 620-8882 to schedule your SureSmile® consultation at our office in Frederick, MD.

Once treatment is completed, we will also provide you with a SureSmile™ Whitening Kit and a special retainer. Wear the retainer as advised by Dr. Asuncion to prevent relapse or the teeth from shifting back into their pre-treatment positions.
